Pay Raise Calculator

Enter the current salary and either the new salary or a percentage. The calculator shows the absolute change and spreads it across the year using the hours you type. Figures are gross.

Calculator

How the number is produced

Percent = (new − current) ÷ current × 100. If you type a percent instead, new = current × (1 + percent ÷ 100). Monthly difference = annual difference ÷ 12. Hourly difference = annual difference ÷ (weeks × hours).

Worked example

€50,000 to €55,000 is €5,000 a year, which is 10%. Over 12 months that is €416.67 a month. Over 2,080 hours it is about €2.40 an hour.

When this is useful

An offer is quoted as a percent and you want the month, or the other way around.

Limits

It does not model tax bands. A 10% gross raise is not a 10% raise in take-home pay.

More on the assumptions is on how the calculators work.

Questions

Can I enter a pay cut?

Yes. Type a new salary below the current one. The percent will be negative.
