Time calculator
Working Days Calculator
Count Monday through Friday working (business) days between two dates for capacity planning, SLAs, and sprint windows.
Clock times and dates stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How the calculation works
Counts Monday through Friday only between the dates you enter so weekend inflation does not distort SLA, sprint, or client turnaround quotes. Inclusive mode counts both endpoints when they are weekdays; exclusive mode omits the end date unless it equals start. Weekends are skipped. Public holidays are not auto-excluded; adjust dates yourself when a bank holiday sits in the window. This is weekday math for capacity planning, not a legal definition of “business day” in every country.
How to use it
Pick start and end dates, then choose whether the end date is included. Read the Monday–Friday count. Public holidays are not subtracted; shorten the window yourself when a bank holiday sits inside it.
Assumptions
Weekends are Saturday and Sunday only. Public holidays are not applied unless you adjust dates yourself. Regional workweeks that include Sunday or exclude Friday need manual adjustment.
Worked example
Input
Mon to next Fri inclusive
Output
5 working days
Quick comparison
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Inclusive | Both endpoints count when they are weekdays |
| Exclusive | End date omitted unless it equals start |
| Holidays | Not auto-excluded |
More scenarios
- Monday through next Friday inclusive → 5 working days.
- Client turnaround window that must ignore weekends.
Practical use cases
- A sprint or SLA window must ignore weekend inflation for a remote client quote.
- A weekday-only lead time needs a client-facing turnaround promise.
- You are checking how many business days remain in a support response window.
- A contractor wants weekday capacity between kickoff and a hard Friday demo.
Limitations
Saturday and Sunday never count. Public holidays are not applied automatically. Regional workweeks that include Sunday or exclude Friday need manual adjustment. This is not a legal “business day” definition for every country.
Common questions
- Are bank holidays excluded?
- No. Adjust the range manually when a public holiday sits inside the window.
- Does Saturday ever count?
- Not in this tool. Only Monday through Friday are treated as working days.
- I need the landing date, not the count. Which tool?
- Use Deadline Calculator to step forward or backward by business days to a calendar date.
