Time calculator
Timesheet Calculator
Sum daily start and end rows into a week total, or split total hours into regular and overtime with an optional pay multiplier.
Clock times and dates stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How the calculation works
Week mode treats each row as its own day (start, end, break) and sums worked time for contractor invoices and Friday wrap-ups. Overtime mode splits a total into regular and overtime using your threshold, optional hourly rate, and multiplier for a planning pay sketch. Uneven weeks are fine; you do not need five identical days. Copy or reset the week in the panel. Legal overtime rules vary by jurisdiction and are not applied automatically, so confirm with payroll or your contract before paying or invoicing.
How to use it
Add a row per workday with start, end, and break minutes. Read the week total, then Copy week for an invoice paste. Switch to Overtime split when you already know total hours; after totaling a week, that decimal can prefill the overtime total field.
Assumptions
Overtime pay outputs are planning estimates only. Legal overtime rules vary by jurisdiction and are not applied automatically. Rates and multipliers are inputs you choose, not advice.
Worked example
Input
5 days × 09:00-17:00 with 60m lunch, or 48h total vs 40h regular
Output
35.00h week, or 8 overtime hours with a pay split sketch
Quick comparison
| Mode | You enter | You get |
|---|---|---|
| Week | Daily start/end/break rows | Week total + copyable summary |
| Overtime | Threshold, total hours, rate, multiplier | Regular vs overtime pay sketch |
More scenarios
- Five contractor days of 09:00–17:00 with 60m lunch → 35.00h week.
- 48 logged hours against a 40-hour regular threshold with a 1.5× overtime sketch.
Practical use cases
- You are assembling a weekly invoice from daily clock rows across a remote week.
- You need an overtime sketch before payroll closes.
- A long contractor week needs comparison against a regular-hour cap.
- You want a quick week total without rebuilding a spreadsheet every Friday.
Limitations
Does not import calendar events. Overtime mode is a planning sketch, not payroll. Weekend rows are optional; add them only if you worked them.
Common questions
- Is the overtime pay figure payroll-ready?
- No. It multiplies your threshold, rate, and multiplier for a sketch. Confirm rules with payroll or your contract before paying or invoicing.
- Can days have different hours?
- Yes. Week mode sums each row independently, so short and long days in the same week are fine.
- Do I need both week and overtime modes?
- Use week mode to total daily rows. Use overtime mode when you already know a total and want a regular vs overtime split.
