Focus planning
Pomodoro Planner
Plan Pomodoro totals, clock schedules, finish times, per-day fit, break budgets, or custom focus sessions in one browser tool.
Clock times and dates stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
How the planner works
Modes cover total focus time, a clock schedule of focus and breaks, finish time from a start clock, cycles that fit after meetings, and custom session lengths. Switch 25/5, 50/10, 75/15 (via presets or fields), or your own lengths to match the work, then copy the schedule into your calendar. The planner is for intentional deep-work blocks across remote mornings when you need a finish clock before inviting others. It answers “when do I finish?” and “how many cycles fit?” without claiming to be a live timer.
How to use it
Pick a mode (schedule, totals, finish time, or per-day fit), set start clock and cycle count, then choose 25/5, 50/10, 75/15, or custom lengths. Read the timeline top to bottom, copy the finish clock into your calendar, and only then start a live timer. If meetings already exist, subtract them first, then return here to turn leftover minutes into cycles.
Assumptions
Lengths are planning defaults you choose, not a fixed productivity rule. The planner does not sync to your calendar or pause for unexpected interrupts. Long-break placement follows the cycle count you enter, not an external timer app. Short breaks sit between focus blocks; the long break lands after the cycle count you set.
Worked example
Input
Mode Schedule · start 09:00 · focus 25m · short break 5m · 4 sessions · long break 15m after cycle 4
Output
09:00-09:25 Focus 1 09:25-09:30 Short break 09:30-09:55 Focus 2 09:55-10:00 Short break 10:00-10:25 Focus 3 10:25-10:30 Short break 10:30-10:55 Focus 4 10:55-11:10 Long break (15m) Finish around 11:10 · total elapsed 2h 10m (100m focus + 30m breaks)
Cadence comparison
| Cadence | Focus / short break | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| 25/5 | 25 min / 5 min | Interrupt-prone mornings, client tickets, admin bursts |
| 50/10 | 50 min / 10 min | Writing, coding, or design with fewer context switches |
| 75/15 | 75 min / 15 min | Deep work with longer recovery between blocks |
| Custom | Your minutes | Contract rhythms, ADHD pacing, or pair-session lengths |
More session scenarios
- Map four 25/5 cycles starting at 09:00 and see when the long break lands.
- Ask how many 50/10 blocks still fit after a 14:00 standup.
- Budget short breaks so a deep-work morning still ends before lunch.
- Switch to 75/15 when a single deep-work stretch needs fewer context switches.
Practical use cases
- You protect a morning for deep work and need the finish clock before inviting others.
- Your calendar already has meetings and you want honest leftover Pomodoro capacity.
- You prefer 50-minute or 75-minute focus blocks and need break math that still fits the day.
- You are briefing a remote teammate on when you will be back after a focus sprint.
- You want a printable cadence before you open the live timer on /pomodoro or the workday desk on /work.
Limitations
Does not sync to Google Calendar, Slack, or phone timers. Does not pause for Slack interrupts or auto-split around meetings. Long-break timing follows your cycle count, not Cirillo orthodoxy enforced by software. Treat the output as a plan you still own.
Focus planning questions
- Does a Pomodoro include the break?
- Focus length is the work block. Breaks are separate fields so you can see total elapsed time including short and long breaks.
- What if meetings land mid-block?
- Use the per-day fit mode after you subtract meeting time, or plan fewer cycles. The tool does not auto-split around calendar events.
- Can I use custom focus lengths?
- Yes. Enter your own focus and break minutes when 25/5, 50/10, or 75/15 do not match how you work.
- Is this the same as the live timer on /pomodoro or the workday desk on /work?
- No. This page plans schedules and totals. /pomodoro is the bare live countdown. /work is the full workday desk with focus state. Use the planner first, then run the timer you already prefer.
- Does this start a live countdown?
- No. It plans schedules and totals only. Open /pomodoro when you need an audible countdown during the block.
- Where should the long break go?
- After the cycle count you enter (classic default: after four focus blocks). If you stop early, re-run with fewer cycles instead of forcing a long break into a short morning.
