What this panel does
Live counts for words, characters with and without spaces, lines, paragraphs, and sentences update as you type so you can stay under a brief, proposal, SMS, or profile-field cap without opening a spreadsheet. Words are whitespace-separated tokens; paragraphs are blank-line separated blocks; sentences split on . ! ? followed by space (abbreviations can skew the count). Reading time assumes 200 words per minute and is a drafting estimate, not a publisher measure. Character counts with and without spaces help when a form counts spaces differently from your editor.
How to use it
Paste or type into the panel and read the live word, character, line, paragraph, sentence, and reading-time figures. Compare characters with and without spaces when a form’s rule is unclear.
Assumptions
Words split on whitespace. Characters with spaces count every character in the paste. Characters without spaces remove space characters only (tabs and newlines still count unless removed). Paragraphs split on blank lines. Sentences split on . ! ? followed by space or end of text. Reading time assumes 200 words per minute.

Limitations
Whitespace tokenization is not a publisher’s typesetting measure. Sentence splits can miscount abbreviations and decimals. Reading time is an estimate at 200 wpm, not a measured reading study. Hyphenation, rich-text entities, and CMS counters may disagree.

- Words are whitespace-separated tokens. Punctuation attached to a word usually stays with that token, so ship, counts as one word.
- When should I use characters without spaces?
- Some forms and SMS-style limits ignore spaces or count differently. Compare both figures when the destination’s rules are unclear.
- Do blank lines create extra paragraphs?
- Yes. Paragraphs are split on blank lines. Collapse empty lines first with Text Cleaner if your paste has accidental gaps.
- Does this match Microsoft Word’s count?
- Not always. Word processors may treat hyphens, contractions, and fields differently. Use this for quick drafting limits, then confirm in the destination when the count is contractual.
- Does anything leave my browser?
- No. The paste stays in this tab while you count.
